Airplanes make noise, and that is the simple fact. There are ways that as pilots we can help be a good neighbors to the surrounding community. Oxnard airport operations has put out a guideline to follow to help reduce the number of complaints, about noise, and still lets us continue to fly safely. These are recommended proceedures and NOT mandatory; if as a pilot of command you deem that you can not meet all of the conditions. Please read more about under what conditions and how to fly these proceedures when landing and departing OXR. http://www.ventura.org/airports/oxrnoise.htm

What's all the noise about?
This is a great reference on why airports have noise abatement proceedures, and why they should be followed. This helps us as an airport community to improve the preception of the airport.
Noise for the July 2006
Oxnard is a very busy airport and has part 139 operations, which makes us unique compared to our sister airports in the county. The last Airport Authority's July meeting, there were only 3 noise complaints. This is despite the fact that we have the Oxnard Historic district, right under the approach to runway 25. As airport users, we are improving our image as we have shown less complaints, while increasing operations. This map shows the general location of the complaints and is compiled from the public records of the Airport Authority meetings.
